Kerala local body polls: Advantage Left front in early leads

The CPM-led LDF has shown an edge in the local body polls in Kerala, establishing leads in more than 50 percent of the 941 panchayats. The Congress-led front, which is close behind, is leading in 381 panchayats while NDA is leading in 22 panchayats.

KOCHI: The CPM-led LDF has shown an edge in the local body polls in Kerala, establishing leads in more than 50 per cent of the 941 panchayats. The Congress-led front, which is close behind, is leading in 381 panchayats while NDA is leading in 22 panchayats.
BJP too has gained ground but could not perform as expected in key local bodies including Thiruvananthapuram, where the Left front is leading in 40 out of a total of 100 wards.

Congress-led front has given tough fight to Left front in municipalities where it leads in 41, while Left front is leading in 39.
The Left front is also leading in 106 block panchayats, 11 district panchayats, 86 municipalities and three corporations while the Congress-led front is leading 45 block panchayats, three district panchayats, 41 municipalities and 3 corporations. NDA is leading in two municipalities.
